Look at the image below.  Given the construction, the style, the colors, where would you say that this hotel belongs?

Where do I belong?

When seen against the city landscape, this hotel may not look so far out of place, but when isolated it sure would fit in much better somewhere else.  (hint – think beach)

Biker chic’s are cool. Somewhat intimidating to us office/city kids, but so very cool (and hawt!) in a hard to explain way. If I weren’t so intimidated by her I would have shouted out the window:

Helmets are for your head honey, not to accessorise your backpack!

Tucking the helmet in your backpack? C’mon! If you’re going to lug it around, might as well toss it on your melon. Right?

Either that’s a Kevlar reinforced Aunt Jemima do-rag on her melon or she’s not as cool as she could be with a pink helmet on. Your call.

Cool or not cool? Helmets are for your head honey, not to accesorise your backpack.

If you’re headed to the Park City Art’s Festival that is quickly approaching on August 2-3, be sure to swing by my buddy’s booth and check out his photography.

This is one of my favorite Seinfeld episodes. Besides the fact that it’s simply funny, sometimes I don’t feel like doing things just because everyone else is. Like wearing the ribbon.

I think I rode one of the more beautiful rides of my life today.

I’m in Oregon for the week and brought my roadie along so that I can get some rides in. I’ve got a feeling it’s going to be a great week for riding.

This morning I left my parent’s house in Tualatin, Oregon and headed west through Sherwood, linked up with Kruger Road that rose and up over a small mountain to finish up in Beaverton.  Along the way I passed by this beautiful Bed and Breakfast called the Chehalem Ridge.  I’m jotting this down for a get-away.

It was only a 30 mile ride but the views of Mt. Hood, Saint Helens, Mount Adams and even Rainier combined with the picturesque forest roads that were winding and beautiful made this ride a definite repeat! To top things off I saw 2 cars on Kruger Road and not a one coming down from Chehalem Pass.

These low quality shots from my soon to be retired cell phone don’t do it justice, but imagine the type of road that BMW would feature in a commercial – winding, ups and downs, 180 degree curves, tree canopy with sunlight cutting through…and you’ll get the idea. Add to that the bluebird skies and I was in heaven.

It’s nice to come home.

It’s the first annual (sounds so much better than first, even though it may not become an annual) bumper sticker photo contest. Send ’em in and you could win some stuff.

Guidelines

  • Politics, sports, anything but racial or sexist bumper stickers are fair game.
  • It doesn’t have to be your bumper sticker
  • You have to take the photo – please resize to 500 pixels wide (not required, but spares me editing time)
  • Send photos to kendall(nospace)card AT gmail D0t com
  • Aug 3 is the deadline.

Winner gets?

The winner will get some cool gear from me. (I’ve got a DNA hoodie, a sleeve of Nike golf balls and a brand new Backcountry.com organic cotton tee shirt up for grabs so far. I’m making this up as I go so bear with me – trust me, if anyone can round up some free gear I’m the man!)

Here’s my entry which I’ll start things off with.

I don’t care about the haters.

I don’t care about the critics.

I do care about the cheaters but I still believe that Lance was clean.

There I said it, I took a stand, drew that line in the sand.

I was looking at KSL.com the other day and saw these two interesting notes regarding Ogden on the front page. (click image for a larger more readable image)

KSL - Ogden is a top rated town with a gang problem - heh

Seems to me that the #3 rated best town in the country wouldn’t be the type of place for gang shootings. And since when did “towns” have a university, 2 freeways, a small airport, urban sprawl and a few dozen traffic lights? Come to think of it, that sounds a lot like Heber.

Just a bit of irony that these two things were on the front page together, not to mention the word “town” is used to describe Ogden.
